According to Mariusz Kopec, the developer behind Pavonis, this application’s main goal is to create an IDE that can be used to create NSIS installers. Said installers can be of various complexities, from simple to quite complex ones. Gettting back to Mariusz Kopec, the developer offers Pavonis for free; the source code of the application is also available for download.

The installation file is a lightweight 1MB in size, so getting it off the web and onto your machine will not take long. Run the aforementioned file and you will be presented with a setup wizard that will guide you through the installation process. When you’re done with the installation and you run Pavonis for the first time, you will be presented with a First Run Helper that will help you set some basic options (NSIS compiler location, automatic check for updates, shortcuts).

The project you’re working on is clearly presented on the interface. All the elements in the project are presented in the panel to the left – select an element and more info about it will be presented in the panel to the right. The panel down at the bottom is the Cons:
The application has not been updated in quite some time.

Pros

Installing Pavonis is a simple matter. You will quickly get accustomed to the interface. Use Pavonis to create NSIS installers. Pavonis is a free application.

Cons

ole Output and Search Results panel. As mentioned above, this application’s main goal is to create an IDE that can be used to come up with NSIS installers. To better put things in perspective, here’s a quick look at the application’s main features: visual designer for custom pages, code editor with syntax highlighting, advanced search, compile and test NSIS scripts, support for nsDialogs and MUI2, compile from the command line, convert projects to NSI files. Pavonis is released under a GNU GPL, meaning that the application is free. It also means that the Pavonis source code is available for download. Pavonis is free and it works as advertised!
